First, if I may say so myself, I’ve been loving the falling snow feature on my blog this month. (Courtesy of wordpress.) It’s been a sweet joy to search my pictures till I found one or two with snow. This picture was taken 2 years ago this month when I lived in Omaha, Nebraska. Cold crisp air, my comfy cozy sleeping-bag-coat, a hot cup of coffee and POOF I’m in my happy place. Ahhh, but back to California now . . . To be honest, I’ve never been one to be too crazy about the holiday season. But I always do my best to participate. To my surprise, this year I’ve discovered something that I really enjoy about Christmas and the holidays – all the lights! The lights on the houses. The lights on the trees. Multi colored lights. Solid white lights. Old fashioned lights. Modern “icicle” lights. Uplifting, artistic, festive and pure. A free gift to behold given with a labor of love from the home owners in my community. I enjoyed the simplicity of my holidays immensely this year. Perhaps because I had no expectations. Also, my family agreed to keep the gift giving spending low. Which was nice.
The festive lights, the decorations, parties, gift giving – symbolic that another year is ending. Let’s all say, “Out with the old!” I’ve gotten many uncomfortable and no fun things out-of-the-way this year! I’ve learned many a great painful lesson. Oy! A big year of growth indeed. For that I am grateful. But still – I’m just saying – I am really looking forward to 2011. Let’s all say, “In with the new!”
Happy New Year! clink! clink! And I did not even think about drinking today. The universe is abundant. So many blessings waiting for me to slow down and discover in the New Year. Something good is right around the corner – I feel it.
